Fake Ozempic Products on the Market

Stay Alert

In our ongoing commitment to your health and safety, we want to bring to your attention an important issue. Recently (16/6/2023), Novo Nordisk, the manufacturer of semaglutide products such as Ozempic and Wegovy, issued a warning about fake Ozempic pens found in the US.
Fake Ozempic Products in Circulation

Novo Nordisk has discovered fake Ozempic pens in the United States. These counterfeit products were reportedly sold at a retail pharmacy and, alarmingly, were found to contain insulin glargine injection, a medication used for a different type of diabetes. This substitution led to an unexpected adverse reaction in the patient who used the fake Ozempic product. It’s crucial to remember that counterfeit products cannot guarantee safety or efficacy and should not be used under any circumstances.
The Dangers

Using fake Ozempic products can lead to serious adverse events. These products may be misbranded, adulterated, contaminated, improperly stored and transported, ineffective, and/or unsafe. It’s crucial to ensure that you’re using authentic medication to receive proper treatment.

How to Identify

To help you distinguish between authentic and fake Ozempic products, here are some key features of genuine Novo Nordisk Ozempic pens:
Genuine Novo Nordisk Ozempic pens do not extend or increase in length when setting the dose.
The dose dial window only shows intended doses.
The box containing authentic Ozempic will include 4 needles which attach directly onto the pen, except the Ozempic® 0.25/0.5 mg dose carton which has 6 needles.

Protect Yourself

Always purchase your semaglutide medicines through authorized distributors and reliable sources. Be vigilant in checking your medicine to confirm it is authentic before administration. If you experience any side effects that may be related to the use of a fake Ozempic product, immediately discontinue use and contact your healthcare provider.
