Saxenda Side Effects

The most common possible side effects when using Saxenda are nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and constipation. These side effects are usually mild and normally decrease with continued use. If symptoms persist, please refer to your doctor.
It is important to note, Saxenda is a prescribed medicine. It is NOT a supplement. Usage of Saxenda has to be monitored by a well-trained healthcare provider. Learn who should NOT use Saxenda.

Nausea & Vomiting

Do: 

  • Change the time of the day when you are taking Saxenda.
  • Review diet with your Doctor.
  • Stop eating when you’re full.
  • Switch from 3 large to 6 small meals per day.

Don’t: 

  • Fatty Food.
  • High-Fibre Food.
  • Spicy food with strong smell.
  • Avoid frying. Choose one of the 3B’s method (bake, barbecue, boil).
  • Alcohol and smoking.

Diarrhoea

Do: 

  • Eat small bites of salty crackers.
  • Drink plenty of water or a rehydration drink.

Don’t: 

  • Spicy foods, fruits, alcohol and caffeine until 48 hours after all symptoms have disappeared. 
  • Chewing gum that contains sorbitol.
  • Milk for 3 days after symptoms dissappear. You can eat cheese or yogurt with probiotics.

Constipation

Do: 

  • Be more active during the day.
  • Choose high-fibre foods.
  • Drink plenty of water.

Don’t:
